How to test and treatment to heart palpitations patients
You may familiar with heart palpitations. This make you feel that your heart is beating too fast or too hard or skipping a beat, or fluttering. You may also notice heart palpitations in your throat, chest or neck. They can also be worrisome or scary. They typically are not very harmful but you must not like the feeling. However, it is found that often this problem goes away on their own. You do not take any medication. Most of the time, they are mainly caused by anxiety and stress or it can be a cause of taking too much nicotine, caffeine or alcohol. They can also occur when you are pregnant. If you think that the problem is getting worse, you need to consult with doctor.
You doctor does not provide any treatment until he examines you. He must give you some tests and diagnosis to know the causes of the problem. For heart palpitations, your physician will listen to your heart rhythm using a stethoscope. He is also likely to look for symptoms of medicinal conditions that can also reason heart palpitations like a swollen thyroid gland. If your physician doubts that your palpitations are mainly caused by an arrhythmia or other heart illness, tests might include:
Electrocardiogram or ECG is an important test. In this noninvasive test, a technician mainly places leads on your chest that records the electrical impulses that make your heart beat. An ECG can also help your physician detect irregularities in your heart’s rhythm and erection that could reason palpitations.
Holter monitoring is also an important test. For this test, you have to wear this portable device to record a nonstop ECG, usually for 24 to 72 hours, while you can also keep a diary of when you feel palpitations. Holter monitoring is also used to detect heart palpitations that are not found during a regular ECG exam.
Event recording is another method of test. If you do not have unequal heart rhythms while you wear a Holter monitor or if the events occur less than once weekly, your physician might also suggest an event recorder.
Echocardiogram is noninvasive exam, which contains an ultrasound of your chest, demonstrates detailed images of your heart’s construction and function. Ultrasound waves are mainly transmitted in this method of test and their echoes are mainly recorded with a device what is called a transducer that’s set outside your body. A computer uses the information from the transducer to form moving images on a video monitor.
Based on symptoms and test results, you doctor will give some treatments. Unless your physician finds that you have a heart condition, heart palpitations rarely need treatment. Instead, your physician might also suggest methods for you to avoid the activities that reason your palpitations. If your palpitations are mainly produced by a condition like an arrhythmia, treatment will also focus on modifying the disorder. It is better idea if you remain cool and learn the method of stress free and you should drink lots of water to keep your heart functions normal.
